Community (formerly the MS Therapy Centre Lothian) is an independent charity that is run by board of trustees elected by its membership.

We have been providing specialist self-management support therapies and activities for over 35 years from our Centre based in Leith, Edinburgh.

Our aim is to enable and empower people living with neurological conditions to make informed decisions about their lives and support them in managing their condition and symptoms, and in the daily challenges they face.

Compass Therapy Centre provides a therapeutic hub where clients can access a wide range of services, therapies, advice, and support in a friendly and welcoming environment.

Day to day operations involve the delivery of physiotherapy, oxygen therapy, a wide range of complementary therapies, condition specific information, advice, and referrals to partner organisations.


Purpose of role

  • To provide operational and administrative support in all aspects of the work of the Compass. Therapy. Support. Community, in line with agreed priorities, to ensure it runs smoothly and efficiently and to support a positive, and welcoming environment for our clients.

Organisational position
Principal Duties

  • To provide general administrative support to the staff team, including but not limited to, correspondence, processing enquiries, and disseminating information, ensuring data protection and confidentiality procedures are followed, and to assist in the operation of Compass. Therapy. Support. Community.
  • To support the physiotherapy team and carry out specific tasks with confidence and competence as instructed, whilst demonstrating sound initiative.
  • To supervise and assist in the running of classes and group work alongside the physiotherapist.
  • To help and support the delivery of oxygen treatment sessions with support from volunteers in accordance with the staff rota, carrying out safety checks as required and following established protocols, to ensure the safe and timely operation of the hyperbaric oxygen chamber.
  • To support Centre management in marketing and promotion of Compass. Therapy. Support. Community and its services, and in maintaining community relationships and links.
  • To be responsible for own timemanagement, maintaining an efficient diary where needed whilst ensuring effective delivery of daytoday services.
  • To monitor stocks within the service and reorder supplies using the appropriate systems.
  • To assist in the general maintenance of treatment areas, alongside therapy staff to ensure a clean, tidy, hazardfree environment for clients and staff.

These duties are a guide to the work that the post holder will initially be required to undertake. Other duties or a change of duties may be necessary from time to time.

Good IT Skills

Standard Grade English and Maths, SVQ1 or SCQF Level 4 equivalent

Health and Social Modules
