Allowance payment for Out of Hours Rota System
A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Support Officer within the Resources Department, Headquarters, St Michael's Street, Shrewsbury.

The Technical Support Officer will be supporting the Technical Services team who ensure personnel are provided with sufficient PPE and appliances are fully stocked with operational equipment.

Knowledge of this equipment is not required and will be developed during employment. Experience in any technical field, including industrial equipment, buildings or vehicles would be advantageous. The role supports a varying workload and would suit a proactive and highly motivated individual.

The main duties will include the purchase and supply of protective equipment, uniform, usage of supplier systems and using electronic systems to issue stores.

Other duties include general warehousing, station deliveries, liaising with suppliers and keeping all compliance documents accurate and electronically stored.

The post requires the applicant to participate in an out of hours emergency call out service, for example - taking PPE or breathing apparatus to incidents where fire crews are working.

Full training and support will be given.

The standard commitment for this rota is 1 in 4 weekends (Friday to Monday) and 1 night per week for which an 18% salary enhancement is typically paid to be available.

Additional payments are made in the event of callouts.
