The Human Resources Advisor provides an efficient, effective, and proactive HR service to managers and staff within a defined area of the business.

This position will work with managers so that they are fully supported in all elements of the HR remit, thus enabling them to meet their objectives in the most effective way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with managers within a defined business area, providing guidance and partnership in all generalist areas of employee relations
  • Design and implement training interventions for the relevant business areas to support the ongoing development of employees
  • Work with HR colleagues to provide an efficient, effective, and proactive recruitment process to ensure current and future staffing levels are correct for the fulfilment of business requirements
  • Ensure high quality, employee focused communications within the specified business area
  • Ensure that all employee personal data is managed legally and appropriately, and with discretion
  • Consistently look for ways of improving and enhancing the HR offering to employees and the wider business
  • Promote and pursue best practice and adherence to Pearson VUE objectives and culture in all aspects of work
  • All employees have a responsibility to cooperate in promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment, and to take reasonable care of their own health and safety at work and that of all other staff who may be affected by their acts or omissions. Line managers have specific responsibility for the health and safety of their direct reports and other team members for which they have general management responsibility
Key Activities

  • Partner with and guide managers on grievance, disciplinary and other employeerelated issues to ensure processes are progressed legally, fairly, and consistently in line with Company policy
  • Enable the resolution of employee relations issues through collaboration with management, provision of guidance in accordance with legislation, policy, procedure, and best practise
  • Oversee and, where appropriate, partner with the Pearson People Services Team (PPS) in the provision of effective administrative support to the HR team and the business
  • Provide input into HR metrics and analytics and other key management information as required and assist in the activities to address the outcomes of this analysis
  • Work alongside the PPS function to ensure effective and appropriate systems are in place in relation to specific business areas
Essential Experience & Qualifications

  • CIPD qualification or working towards
  • Experience in a generalist HR role
  • Confident in the management of employee relations
  • Ability to design and deliver training interventions
  • Experience in recruitment processes, including interview and selection
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation skills to keep up with a fast paced and often pressurised environment
  • Ability to work independently when required, but with the common sense to know when to seek guidance and advice from colleagues
  • Strong team working skills and customer service ethic
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal in the English language
  • Strong IT capability, familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite and associated packages
Desirable Experience & Qualifications

  • Experience of partnering with stakeholder managers and providing generalist advice and guidance
  • Use of HR data analytics to propose activities / solutions
  • Project management experience and collaboration with colleagues within and outside of HR to achieve desired outcomes
Working Arrangements

  • Monday to Friday generally 37.5 hours per week, or as required to complete important tasks or projects
- 'Hybrid' work arrangements (mixture of office & home)
- 'Normal' office location
  • The Lighthouse, Salford Quays
  • Some travel may be required
