Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and experienced nurse to lead the Inherited Bleeding Disorder Service in Swansea Haemophilia Centre.

We are looking for a Band 7 nurse with exceptional leadership and demonstrable clinical and nurse and service management experience.

The Haemophilia Centre works closely with the Cardiff Comprehensive Care Centre delivering multi-disciplinary, patient-centered care for all patients with inherited bleeding disorders and their families.

The Bleeding Disorders network offers seamless care irrespective of site across South, Mid and West Wales. The MDT comprises doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, social workers, psychologists, and play therapy.

This opportunity has come at an exciting time since WHSCC (Welsh Healthcare Specialised Commissioning Committee) have supported and approved a business case to commission inherited bleeding disorders involving an expansion of nursing and medical staff across the network, assuring the service over the next 20 years and enabling patients to be seen at home, or closer to home.

Potential applicants should have excellent leadership skills in addition to sound clinical nursing skills that enable development of the service, both in Swansea and across the network.

The Swansea Haemophilia Centre provides lifelong clinical and laboratory services for patients and families with Inherited Bleeding Disorders and thrombotic disorders, delivering local service provision as part of a wider Wales network.

The Haemophilia network is enrolled in a number of ongoing clinical trials.

The post holder will support the lead nurse, band 7 clinical nurse specialists (adult, paediatric and research), Band 6 CNS team in Swansea and wider MDT.

They are responsible for delivering care to patients with IBD within in-patient and outpatient settings in Swansea Bay UHB.

As part of the MDT, they will take a lead role in co-coordinating patient-centred care and future development of this role, delivering specialised care to all patients with Inherited Bleeding Disorders through the Haemophilia Centre outpatient service and advice and expertise to all relevant clinical areas.

Ability to work autonomously is required to ensure the provision of high quality effective, evidence based and efficient care whilst taking responsibility for professional leadership and operational line management.

Leadership and participation in designing and delivering new care pathways and nurse led services will include development and implementation of policy, standards, guidelines, protocols and audit.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
