As a Major Orthopaedic Scrub Practitioner (ODP) at Spire Bristol Hospital, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional surgical care to our patients.

You will be responsible for assisting the surgical team during major orthopaedic procedures, ensuring that all equipment and instruments are prepared and ready for use.

This is a temporary position, offering a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team and gain valuable experience in a renowned healthcare facility.

Your main responsibilities will include:

Preparing the operating theatre for major orthopaedic procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment and instruments are available and in good working order.
Assisting the surgical team during procedures, providing accurate and timely sterile supplies, instruments, and equipment as required.
Maintaining a sterile environment throughout the surgical procedure, following strict infection control protocols.
Monitoring and assessing patients before, during, and after surgery, ensuring their safety and wellbeing.
Liaising with other members of the healthcare team, including surgeons, anaesthetists, and nurses, to ensure effective communication and coordination of care.
Providing emotional support and reassurance to patients and their families throughout the surgical journey.
Actively participating in continuous professional development and sharing knowledge and expertise with colleagues.
Adhering to Spire Healthcare's policies, procedures, and guidelines, ensuring high standards of patient care and safety at all times.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

A recognised qualification as an Operating Department Practitioner (ODP).
A minimum of 2 years' experience working as a Scrub Practitioner in a major orthopaedic setting.
Excellent knowledge of orthopaedic surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
The ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A commitment to providing patientcentred care and delivering highquality services.
The ability to remain calm and composed in highpressure situations.
A proactive and flexible approach to work, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and demands.
A valid registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
