Job description
Are you a Quality Engineering Professional interested in joining either an Aircraft Platform or Aircraft Systems Delivery Team?

Do you have an Engineering background with a focus towards quality?


We are seeking Quality Assurance Practitioners, with experience working within aviation or aerospace environments, to join the Engineering Quality Assurance teams, within the Air Support or Combat Air Operating Centres (collectively known as the Air domain)within Defence Equipment & Support.


As a project Quality Assurance Engineer, you will be part of a dedicated team of MOD QA Licensed and Chartered Quality Institute Professionals, whose purpose is to provide engineering and quality assurance advice and guidance to support our engineering managersand project managers in providing acquisition and sustainment in delivering products and services to our customer requirements.

Please note regular attendance at your permanent duty station (the locations stated above) will be required for this position. For all roles, there will be a requirement for some domestic travel. There will be a requirement for short periods of detachedduty in the UK, which will involve overnight stays. Additionally, there may be opportunities for international travel.


About the role
As a Project Quality Assurance Engineer, your main responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

  • Input to the project risk and identification and assessment process, including the identification of risks that can be mitigated by tasking GQAR to conduct GQAS.
  • Supporting the Contractor downselect process and ensuring that contract related risks are considered during the Contract Requisition process and that appropriate QA Standards and Requirements are included in the contracts
  • Accepting (or rejecting) and managing Deliverable Quality Plans, and coordinating and monitoring all project related quality assurance activities, including measurement of contract quality performance.
  • Discuss the requirements for counterfeit Avoidance with the Project Manager and relevant SMEs and the inclusion of relevant Defence Standards in the contract as necessary.
  • Resolution of Quality Escapes from Industry and Military Maintenance organisations and MILCAM.
  • Leading 1st Party Audits into Engineering and Associated Processes. Supporting 3rd Party Audits, including from the Military Aviation Authority (MAA), and leading on the management and resolution of noncompliances and nonconformities.

Person specification

  • You will be qualified to a minimum of Level 4 (e.g. HNC) in a relevant Engineering or Science related discipline or will demonstrate an equivalent level of relevant engineering experience
  • You will demonstrate a breadth of Quality Assurance experience gained from involvement with projects or tasks that include supply chain management
  • You will be a Chartered Quality Institute Professional, Quality Practitioner or will demonstrate the equivalent knowledge, skills and experience
