The opportunity


Our mission in People Services (PS) is to help create an amazing place to work with flexibilities that enable people to thrive and live better and healthier lives through fulfilling work.

As one of our Senior Health and Safety Advisors, you will help create a positive working culture within our community by working closely with Deans and Directors to provide professional advice and guidance.

This is a great opportunity deliver an accessible health and safety risk-based service, contributing to the development and delivery of the short
- and long-term Health and Safety plan.

Using your health and safety expertise, you will also:

  • Work with all leaders in understanding and undertaking their health and safety responsibilities.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of health and safety training within the sector standard, up to NVQ Level
  • Assist the Deputy Head of Health and Safety in the implementation and monitoring of the University riskbased Health and Safety management system.
  • Understand and interpret health and safety legislation and develop and review a range of clear, simple and transparent communications that provide legal compliance.
  • Proactively seek out opportunities within a cognitive diverse organisation building on health and safety profession development.

What we are looking for


With current and detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation and practice, you will have demonstrable experience of developing and delivering health and safety training to NVQ Level 6, in addition to preparing policies and guidance.

The ability to effectively communicate, present and engage with a wide range of staff is highly important, along with using coaching techniques to support the development of a positive health and safety culture.

A relevant degree (or equivalent) with a recognised Health and Safety qualification is also required for this role.
