38 weeks Term Time Only, plus 2 weeks (40 weeks per year total)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Statement of Purpose


To work under the direction and guidance of senior staff to support pupils with attendance and punctuality issues and to provide general administrative support to the school in relation to attendance and truancy.

Under the guidance of senior staff, provide support in addressing the needs of pupils who need particular help to overcome barriers to learning.

Assist the teachers and nominated staff members in the following:


Support to Pupils

  • To liaise with parents, outside agencies, education welfare and the police with regard to attendance and punctuality issues.
  • To work directly with individuals or groups in respect of attendance and inclusion
  • To raise selfesteem and confidence of learners with a view to improve personal and social skills.
  • Supporting parents and learners in crisis, liaising with identified personnel.
  • To arrange for units of work and/or specific skills development with individual learners to be provided and monitor the progress for these pupils.
  • Support the school inclusion policy by liaising and working with other key pastoral staff and senior leaders.
  • Provide pastoral support to pupils within the school environment.
  • Receive and supervise pupils excluded from, or otherwise not working to, a normal timetable.
  • Attend to pupils' personal needs and provide advice to assist in their social, health and hygiene development.
  • Participate and support in the comprehensive assessment of pupils to determine those in need of particular help.
  • In conjunction with the teacher with the development and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour/Support/Mentoring plans.
  • Support provision for pupils with additional needs.
  • Develop 1:1 mentoring arrangements with pupils and provide support for distressed pupils.
  • Provide feedback to pupils and teachers in relation to progress, achievement, behaviour, attendance etc.
  • Support to Organisation
  • To contact parents in informing them of individual attendance as part of effective lines of communication between school and home which will include home visits
  • To liaise with the relevant staff on actions to be taken.
  • To administer appropriate targets and rewards.
  • Administrative Support
  • To ensure timely production of attendance statistics.
  • To sign in late learners
  • To use SIMS to administer learner timetables
  • To assist with pastorally related administration which may include:
  • Helping maintain the school's database with regard to options, pupil data sheets, admissions and leavers
  • Assisting with the provision of statistical returns
  • Assisting in the administration of the new intake
  • Providing general administrative support as appropriate accordin
