The housekeeper's main tasks will concentrate on the catering service ensuring the ward is a warm, comfortable, clean and welcoming environment and assisting in ensuring that patient needs are met.


  • Linen - Sufficient clean linen must be available on the ward to meet patient and staff needs at all times, with issues raised to the Ward Manager.
  • Environment - There must be a high standard of cleanliness throughout the ward to assist with minimising the risk of infection with patients treated within an environment that is welcoming and complies with all Health & Safety legislation.

  • Customer Care - All patients are entitled to receive the highest standard of care, and all individual privacy and dignity must be respected at all times.
  • Communication - Effective communication must be used to ensure continuity of patient care.
  • Equipment - All equipment must be kept in good working order, with any issues raised to the Ward Manager to ensure repairs are undertaken.
  • To ensure the routine procurement and re-stocking of clinical areas against agreed stock levels, including bedside trolleys.


North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton in Enfield, North London.

We serve a diverse multicultural population largely from the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey.

  • To ensure effective written and verbal communication is maintained with all members of the team as appropriate, working within the Trust This includes being courteous to visitors and during telephone conversations.
  • To assist in allowing entry to visitors, ensuring safety and security
  • To work as part of the team to ensure that an excellent standard of cleanliness is maintained. This extends from the clinical area, bed spaces, family areas, support areas and rest areas.
  • To liaise with the nursing team and other appropriate staff to ensure that the schedule of cleaning clinical equipment is maintained to meet the standards within the department.
  • To ensure that the clinical equipment is cleaned daily and kept ready for use to support safe delivery of care.
