Active Leeds is working in collaboration with a range of partners to deliver a 2-year pilot programme of Cancer Prehabilitation.

We aim to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated physical activity development professional to join our successful Active Leeds - Health Programmes Team.

The role will deliver and develop the physical activity part of the Cancer Prehabilitation programme.

Purpose of the Job will be:
To be a part of a multi-disciplinary team assessing and managing Cancer referrals into prehabilitation programmes. Based at multiple venues across Leeds including at Bexley Wing at St James's Hospital, the role will contribute to the prehabilitation assessment clinic, supporting newly diagnosed individuals to choose prehabilitation as a treatment offer to improve their treatment outcomes


The role will coordinate and provide ongoing physical activity support across several physical activity interventions delivered by Active Leeds and partners.

The role will lead on the monitoring and evaluation of the physical activity element of the Cancer Prehabilitation Programme (CPP) to create the evidence for long term funding with NHS Commissioners and MacMillan.


Duties include:

  • Support referrals through their prehabiliation programme.
  • Deliver group exercise classes
  • Create bespoke individualised programmes for referrals
  • Develop an ambassador's programme to provide peer support for new participants.
  • Support monitoring and evaluation of the programme

Skills include:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and motivate others.
  • Demonstrate passion and enthusiasm for the role of physical activity and community engagement in improving health outcomes.
  • The ability to produce effective reports for internal and external partners.

This role is based in the UK.
