As a Senior Learning Lead, you'll be responsible for Management and Key Programs, and will be accountable for building and implementing the learning experiences that welcome new starters, build core skills, line manager capabilities and leadership behaviours across M&S.


Leading a small team, and working in a "agile way", you'll create, deliver and sustain solutions aligned to our People Plan and Learning strategy roadmap.

Role modelling the leadership behaviours that you aim to develop in others, you'll coach and develop your team to perform at their best and grow their careers


As a member of the Learning leadership team, you will actively shape the learning strategy and roadmap across M&S as a whole.

Always with an eye to the future, you will innovate to adopt new and better ways to create remarkable learning experiences that drive business and personal growth across M&S.

Key objectives

  • Play a leadership role across the central Learning Leadership Team, and play a key role in shaping and transforming the learning culture within M&S.
  • Build and maintain M&S core skills framework and implement effective assessment and learning solutions to build these skills across all M&S colleagues.
  • Lead on how we welcome new colleagues at M&S, ensuring that the 'My Welcome' program is engaging, relevant and enables new starters to accelerate their transition into their role and be ambassadors for M&S culture.
  • Develop a strategy to build worldclass line and people managers across M&S, taking an end
- to
- end view to include how we hire, develop and assess manager capability.

  • Build excellent relationships across M&S, as well as with external suppliers, using market expertise.
  • Manage budget to deliver value initiatives that are commercially sound. Demonstrate impact of learning / return on investment for development that supports wider People Team objectives.
  • Effectively develop team members, supporting their transition to new ways of working, and support team with selfdevelopment and career progression to offer team(s) a remarkable learning career.

Key skills

  • Significant experience working as a learning & leadership development professional supporting large, complex and fast paced organisations.
  • Experience building and implementing impactful and commercially sound core skills and leadership frameworks and initiatives.
  • Deep understanding of adult learning theory, tools and models.
  • Highly impactful and engaging facilitator of core and leadership programs both live and virtual.
  • Deep understanding of the learning and development vendor landscape and experience getting the best from 3rd party providers.
  • Strong business perspective & commercial foresight.
  • Skilled in working with business partner at all levels, ability to credibly influence peers & senior leaders, and highly collaborative in approach.
  • Skilled at coaching & delivering development initiatives at all levels of an organisation.
  • Project management knowledge with the ability to structure, plan, control and lead multiple projects to challenging deadlines.
  • People Management experience and ability to deliver through others.
