About The Role:


  • All staff is expected to understand the principles of Good Distribution Practice of Medicinal Products for Human Use (2013/C 68/01) which is reflected in our SOP
  • REF Chapter 1 Alcura SOP 1.1. It will be a requirement for all staff to be trained in this SOP and have an annual refresher. All other GDP training will be job specific and as per your personal training matrix._
  • The Goods Inwards Team Lead will lead a team of approximately 610 employees with a 'can do attitude' to engage teams in a KPI driven culture which you will develop and implement, delivering goods checking, booking in and putaway accuracy in a busy warehouse environment across all departments. To actively endorse, promote and manage team culture in annual Performance Reviews, regular 121's, training and if applicable succession planning._
  • The role is responsible for the achievement of operational targets and control of activities through one of the many Goods Inwards areas of the Alcura Warehouse Department, inclusive of Pharmacy, Surgical, Specials and Specialist wholesale. You will be required to implement your skills throughout all areas in the warehouse which will drive your development. You will have complete ownership and engagement of the goods inwards processes to drive an ever improving system._
  • As the Goods Inwards Team Lead you will be able to recognise weaknesses in systems and your lean awareness will enable you to drive for continuous improvement and recognise the importance of adopting the Alcura Q-Pulse system in your daily activities._

_ Key Accountabilities:

  • To drive the daily performance of operatives, to achieve or exceed budgeted productivity and quality targets within a warehouse operation in line with departmental KPIs
  • To implement the daily staffing plan, ensuring optimum operational output at all times, escalating any areas of concern immediately to the Warehouse and Facilities Manager.
  • Engage the teams in Non-Conformance and reporting any deviations, near misses on Qpulse
  • To follow fully with H&S regulations and to ensure all staff comply
  • To ensure all staff keep their areas of responsibility of housekeeping to the agreed standards at all times
  • Ensure missing orders/stock and damages are kept within agreed targets
  • Maintain regular performance reviews with employees under supervision, recognising the importance of feedback and of development plans for our staff.
  • Ensuring leadership and motivation is given through regular daily and weekly team brief to staff
  • Maintain the current training system, ensuring that regular training is completed and up to date
  • Ensuring that costs remain within budget whilst remaining safe, legal and compliant to appropriate legislation.

About You:


Autonomy and Independence:
Ability to work mostly autonomously within given framework processes to deliver defined results is required. Must identify potential issues, investigate and seek out long term solutions. Individual must sustain high level contribution to the team results.


Experience, Skills/Knowledge:

Any prior knowledge of the following would be highly advantageous:

  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office with confidence to learn other systems
  • Managing and supporting a team in the achievement of business goals
  • Warehouse / Distribution processes
  • Health and Safety adherence
  • Ability to prioritise

Level of Decision Making:


  • On completion of training this role does have some autonomy in decision making, within limits set by company policy and the Warehouse and Facilities Manager.
  • Working with Team Members and Management to formulate recommendations for the improvement of processes and procedures
  • No influence of budget but budget targets to be achieved.
