Salary:
£23,651 - £23,857 (pro rata for part time)

Hours: 25 per week

he Stores and Support Officer will work to support the operational elements of the centres.

These include, being responsible for the storage, maintenance and cleanliness of all equipment, to undertake duties concerning minibus transport/delivery to specific locations, performing support duties in a range of outdoor activities, to perform a range of technical support duties for building use compliance as well as general building maintenance tasks, and undertake duties concerning minibus transport.

MAJOR TASKS / JOBACTIVITIES

Maintain an orderly and efficient working environment in all store areas

  • Organise the layout of each equipment store to facilitate efficient equipment storage and ease of access for issuing
  • Issue equipment as required by instructors or customers
  • Perform store cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Undertake general maintenance tasks in all buildings
  • Keep any hazardous cleaning or maintenance items secure
  • Be methodical and ensure operating procedures for the stores are maintained on all levels
  • Attend daily morning briefing meeting to have an overview of the stores requirements for that day.
  • Liaise with stores customers (internal and external customers) to maximise service level. To resolve customer enquiries, interpret requirements and to contribute to the effectiveness of the stores
  • Maintain an asset register of all equipment
  • Create new records for items purchased
  • Maintain a record of user data for new items
  • Perform perpetual stock checking function and participate in the annual stock check.
  • Prepare stock requirements
  • Administer all paperwork and delivery notes as per defined procedures
  • Maintain effective stock control at all times Maintain and repair equipment to meet current standards
  • Maintain and service equipment to meet current PPE standards and the audit requirements of the Adventure Activities Licensing Service
  • With advice from technical advisors, undertake equipment tests and inspections e.g. buoyancy aids, harnesses in accordance with current best practice
  • Monitor the physical condition of equipment and when required, take advice from technical advisors to repair / withdraw equipment and update records as appropriate
  • Maintain procedure and system for out of use or defective equipment requiring repair for each store
  • Order and maintain a stock of items to enable repair of store items.
  • Monitor cleanliness and hygiene of items such as helmets and wetsuits and carry out periodic cleaning and organise regular wash systems
  • Undertake general maintenance tasks in all Centre buildings Maintain systems for vehicles, engines and trailer health checks and inspections
  • Recognise and report vehicle and safety boat engine defects
  • Carry out minibus and engine health checks and keep all trailers in good working order
  • Arrange with the garage periodic inspections of busses and trailers to comply with Edinburgh schedules
  • Undertake cleanliness monitoring and where required, cleaning of minibuses
  • Maintain minibus resources e.g. sick kits and winter items
  • Maintain trailer portable lighting boards.
  • Compliance Testing such as fire alarms, water quality safety and asbestos registers
  • Other general duties to support the operation and general maintenance of the outdoor centre as directed by line manger. This may include some simple maintenance tasks. Supervision and Management of People Up to 1 volunteer stores worker(s) and work experience placements at a time.
The post holder shall be encouraged to use their initiative in the development of this post. Contacts and Relationships Staff from schools, community centres, other establishments, projects and voluntary organisations. Staff based at other outdoor education establishments.

Environment - Work Demands
