We frequently see excellent counsellors with great potential graduate from their Level 4, or higher course with enthusiasm and an eagerness to step on to their counselling career ladder, only to find that opportunities are scarce.

Most employers are looking for 450+ hours experience, and certainly in the NHS counselling services require accreditation and a NICE approved qualification.

At 1point, we are committed to offer career enhancing opportunities for counsellors working in our partner agencies and/or studying in Bolton.

We are delighted to announce the introduction of our Graduate Scheme to start in July 2023.

There will be up to 5 posts of between 3 and 6 hours per week, paid at the Living Wage rate of £10.90 per hour.

Counsellors will have qualified between 2019 and 2023 to be eligible for the scheme and may stay with the project up to a maximum of 2 years.

In addition, they will be offered 1.5 hours paid supervision per month with a 1point approved supervisor, free or reduced rate access to CPD courses, and paid BACP membership.

A Graduate and Project Co-ordinator is already in post and their role is to train and guide all graduates, to ensure suitability of cases referred to graduates, and to compile bespoke CPD courses for each individual graduate who joins us on the scheme.

The posts will be based at Silverwell House in Bolton however graduates may be required to work off site within the Bolton area at times, and under the guidance of the Project Co-ordinator.

Both evening and Saturday work will be available, and counselling will be delivered face to face, on-line or by telephone.
