Ward Clerk- Maternity
£20,270 - £21,318 Per Annum Pro Rata

To provide an efficient support service to the maternity unit, working across all four departments which include Delivery Suite, Drayton Ward, Maternity & Gynaecology outpatients and Community.
- Welcoming patients and members of the public to the ward area and responding to queries that arise or referring to relevant Midwifery personnel.
- To answer the ward telephone and ensure that information is correctly handled and disseminated appropriately.
- To ensure the Patient Administration System is kept uptodate and reflects patients currently on the ward/in the area and also matches the patient board; including consultant/speciality transfers.
- To ensure that all of the relevant documentation (front sheet and patient labels) are printed and copies are available in the notes for every patient.
- In line with the Trusts' Medical Records Policy, ensure that all filing is kept up to date and sent back to the Medical Records Department for filing

- To ensure that all patients notes are kept up to date and filing is filed in the notes in line with the George Eliot Hospital Medical Records Policy.
- To provide an efficient and professional clerical service to the Midwifery, Medical and Surgical Teams
- To communicate with internal and external professional bodies, e.g. other NHS Trust's, Coroner, Police, District Nurses and other Allied Healthcare Professionals.
- To communicate over the telephone and personally with patients, patients representatives and relatives relaying accurate and applicable information as required.
