NPD Project Manager:


  • Tyne and Wear_

Our client is one of the UKs leading Automotive Engineering companies and they are looking for a highly experienced Project Manager to come and join their team.


Main Purpose of Role:


Key Activities:


_Planning_,

  • Define and negotiate project work scope, deliverables and global project timing and price, including milestones and gateways, with the customer
  • Provide understanding of customer processes that will be followed during the program, and plan project activities to suit
  • Agree project team members with Function Heads

_Project Delivery_

  • Implement latest Project Management processes and tools. Develop existing processes as required
  • Define responsibilities and objectives of other team members
  • Monitor the implementation of latest Functional processes and procedures throughout the project
  • Coordinate activities between Sections to achieve project deliverables and milestones to the agreed plan
  • Plan and reforecast as necessary, resource form Functions to achieve project deliverables, milestones, invoicing & margin
  • Ensure customer requirements are met, and if necessary, where work scope is not within agreed scope, raise PCR to secure additional funding form customer
  • Agree changes in project work scope with customer and Head of Projects
  • Organise and facilitate internal and external Project Meetings in line with latest PM processes
  • Coordinate and attend customer Project Status meetings. Coordinate external project status reports
  • Lead internal Gateway reviews
  • Lead project close out meetings and reviews
  • Develop and inform relevant Sales Team on new and continuation business opportunities with the customer

Education/Qualifications Required:


  • Honours Degree in an appropriate engineering discipline
  • Professional engineering qualification such as CEng with IMechE, IEE or similar is desirable
  • Professional project management qualification such as APM, ILM

Experience Required:


  • At least 10 years experience in relevant industry
  • Electric motors, transmissions and/or power electronics is ideal
  • Highly dynamic or rotating machines is desirable
  • Automotive, commercial vehicles or rail sectors is desirable especially within powertrain systems
  • Working with APQP, Product Development and ISO9001 processes
  • Leading cross functional technical and commercial teams with successful outcomes
