Description
An opportunity has arisen for a driven and passionate Room Leader to join our friendly team at Brighouse SOS.

SOS is an out-of-school and holiday club based on-site at Woodhouse Primary School.

We are a long-established not-for-profit organisation which is highly focused on health and well-being, providing a safe and fun environment for children aged 4-11 years old.


Part-time: up to 25 hours per week


Pay:
up to £13.10 per hour


Term time club opening hours:
Monday to Friday 7.10am - 8.45am and 3:00pm - 6:00pm,


School Holidays:
The club is open Monday to Friday 7:15am - 6:00pm.

We are a flexible setting, willing to accommodate specific needs and shift patterns, where possible.


Job summary:


  • Provide quality playcare within the framework of the club's policies and procedures.
  • Deputise for Manager in the operation of the Out of School Club, including health and safety, compliance, and administration.

Line manager:
Out of School Club Manager


Working relationships:

Children attending the club and their parents or carers, management and other of staff members, volunteers, schools, registering authorities.


Main duties include:


  • Supervise, safeguard and keep all children safe whilst at SOS.
  • Provide varied and meaningful activities for children of varying ages.
  • Prepare breakfast and snacks for children.
  • Cleaning of setting before, during and after sessions.
  • Speaking positively to parents / carers as well as children.
  • Behaviour Management of children in setting.
  • Maintain health and safety standards.
  • Report any concerns to DSI.
  • Deputise for the Manager in the daytoday smooth running of the setting, ensuring staff are deployed appropriately and their planned activities reflect each individual child's needs.
  • Support and supervise room staff with their daytoday duties.

Person specification:


Essential qualities

  • Experience of working with 4 to 11 year olds.
  • Delivering equal opportunities in a play setting.
  • Understanding the varied needs of children and families.
  • Providing and facilitating safe, stimulating play.
  • Excellent communication skills together with sufficient understanding and use of English to ensure the wellbeing of the children.
  • Ability to work on own initiative, using judgement and common sense.
  • Familiarity with the Early Years Foundation Stage.

Desirable qualities

  • At least 2 years' experience of working in a childcare setting.
  • Experience of working in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Current Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
  • Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Appropriate Level 3 qualification.
  • Appropriate child protection training.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office.
