Commercial Buyer - Norwich, United Kingdom - Saffron Housing Trust
Description
We are recruiting for a Commercial Buyer to lead the commercial functions of Crocus Homes, to procure materials and plant competitively and to drive innovative improvements to our business.
Key responsibilities include:
- Responsible for the buying for sites of varying complexity ensuring the site team meet the required standards and programme milestones.
- Scheduling of materials from drawings to raise purchase orders for the site team to call off, in an accurate and efficient way to maintain schedules, all within budget.
- Produce recommendations on material, plant and other deliverable functions within the business to ensure competitive prices and budgets are maintained to achieve strong profitability across our sites.
- Research, recommend and embed a new system (COINS or similar) to allow the wider commercial team to set up new sites to establish budgets and ensuring cost control for developments built.
- Regularly provide valuable input to the Managing Director and Operations Director when making key business decisions and attend management level meetings as needed.

- Management experience at a senior level.
- Experience in the management of a buying function within the housing or construction market.
- Previous experience with a volume house builder.
- Relevant Building Industry Qualifications and Training.
- COINS or similarly trained.
- Possess excellent negotiating skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people.
- Ability to liaise with internal and external personnel.
- Ability to plan and programme work methods and build sequence for sites.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to lead, manage and motivate a team.
- Control preliminary costs in accordance with budget.
- Ability to work to deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
- Ability to work on own initiative, with excellent attention to detail.
- Proficient IT skills along with a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and outlook) and systems such as COINS.
- Full UK Driving Licence / Ability to travel daily to development sites and Head Office.
