About us

Genus Care is a family run business, who own 6 residential child care homes across South Wales with a 7th home opening this year.

As Genus Care is owned by the people who run the company on the inside, we make 'child focused, person centred' decisions
- not financial or political ones. We don't have investors or share holders that we need to satisfy. We aim to positively change the lives of all children living with us, to realise their full and often undiscovered potential whilst at the same time keeping them safe, educating them and sticking by them. We will do whatever it takes to achieve success.

We have a simple philosophy which is based entirely on the needs and best interests of the child: Once they come to live with us we will not fail them by ending their placement either unnecessarily or before the conclusion of their care and support plan.

Our aim is to end the constant merry go round of frequent placement moves and to offer the children a stable, safe and nurturing environment to enable them to put down roots and be a part of the local community where they can reach their full potential and thrive.

The Job

We are currently recruiting for a Residential Child Care Professional (RCCP) for one of our Residential Home's in
St Thomas Swansea to work with young people aged 6-18 who have been placed in our care by the Local Authority.

These young people have had a very difficult start in life through no fault of their own and can display challenging behaviour from being let down so badly.

We need dedicated people who can build genuine relationships with the kids and offer them opportunities that they've never had whilst following all policies and personal plans.

This includes

  • Good education from our qualified teachers at our on site schools for children who don't attend mainstream education
  • Activities
- having a varied planner, having fun, playing games, sport, joining clubs, swimming, cinema, trips to the park or beach, theme parks, camping trips and holidays away in the UK and abroad.

  • Supported family contact
  • Promoting independence
  • Teaching kids everyday skills
  • Therapeutic work to help recover from past trauma
  • 11 staffing
  • Structure, consistency, routine and boundaries
  • Excellent policies and procedures
  • Personal Plans
- all staff have extensive input in what goes into the plan via monthly review meetings

  • Positive behaviour management strategies
  • Positive relationships with other professionals who are involved in the kids lives
If you are caring, hard
- working, a happy and a positive person who has good sense of humour, imaginative, love children, having fun and a challenge and would like to be part of changing children's lives for the better, whilst being their support network, parent and friend, then this is the job for you. This is a challenging but very rewarding role.

You will be part of a very supportive, qualified and experienced network of people and given all the trainin
