As the Head of Compliance within our Legal and Compliance Team, you will be key to ensuring our compliance function is fit-for-purpose which will include a root and branch review of the current processes and subsequent implementation of streamlined processes.

Leading our compliance team you will take ownership of our Know Your Customer (KYC) and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) processes and assessments and ensure we are effectively onboarding clients and suppliers.

You will report to the Legal and Compliance Director and work closely with our fee-earning teams to provide expert advice and guidance on all compliance related issues and contribute to our firm's regulatory compliance while delivering commercially viable solutions.


Excellent communication skills are essential, as you will be required to provide verbal and written advice in a timely, clear, and concise manner to both internal and external clients.

Articulating complex concepts in an accessible way will be a significant aspect of your role, ensuring that all stakeholders understand the compliance requirements and the rationale behind them.

In addition to communication skills, you must possess excellent analytical abilities.

Your management skills, keen eye for detail and ability to assess risks accurately will contribute to maintaining the integrity and security of our client base as well as the wellbeing and professional development of our compliance personnel.

Main responsibilities

  • Ensure that the KYC/CDD review and assessment process is fitforpurpose by meeting HMRC requirements whilst also being appropriately streamlined for our surveyors and clients.
  • Daytoday supervision of the compliance team, ensuring work is prioritised and allocated in the most efficient way according to business priorities, along with continual assessment of the team's capacity levels and quality outputs
  • Ensuring KYC/CDD reviews and assessments are undertaken in a timely, consistent and professional manner, as well as ensuring ongoing CDD monitoring and remediation as appropriate.
  • Preparing and delivering training to surveyors on their role in delivering the process; ensuring all stakeholders are communicated with and expectations are managed well.
  • Leading team meetings and providing regular updates to the compliance team on relevant issues or trends.
  • Management of daily compliance matters, acting as escalation point for all compliance issues, escalating to the Legal and Compliance Director and/or senior management as necessary.

  • You possess a thorough understanding of the regulatory requirements for KYC/CDD and how it applies in the real estate industry.
  • You have the confidence and ability to continuously identify and implement the best fitforpurpose processes for Gerald Eve, ideally with experience of driving this change
  • You drive the highest standards for technical outputs, capable of driving meticulous assessments across the team as well as a strong attention to detail.
  • You can demonstrate exemplary service levels to support your internal customers.
  • Highly organised and with the experience of leading and managing a highly functioning team where you are comfortable taking responsibility for outputs
  • You have experience of delivering positive sustainable change
  • Ambitious with the desire to grow the compliance function as Gerald Eve grows as a business.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills to communicate and manage expectations across all levels of our business along with the desire and experience of training and driving positive change across your internal customer base and their input in to the process
