We have a rare opportunity to join our Isle of Wight Council's Public Rights of Way team on a fixed term contract (3 years).


As an England Coast Path Officer you will be at the forefront to lead on planning, delivering and overseeing the establishment of Natural England's England Coast Path and Coastal Access Scheme on the Isle of Wight and the development and establishment of a National Trail Partnership for its future, management, maintenance and promotion.


This will be a varied role and a chance to work closely with our professional partners, to succeed, you will undertake:

  • Project ownership
  • Establish and lead the new National Trail Partnership
  • Gaining consents for infrastructure works from relevant organisations
  • Managing funding, maintaining, and distributing accurate records
  • Working with Natural England
  • Be the main contact on all matters relating to the England Coast Path on the Isle of Wight
  • Instigate procedures for 'roll back' of the National Trail when it has been affected by coastal erosion

To fully engage with this role, you will need to be able to undertake the physical aspects of daily tasks, hold a full valid driving licence and hold relevant vocational or professional qualifications or equivalent experience in project management / countryside access management or similar.
