Chiltern Grange Care Home enjoys lovely views over open countryside and the nearby Chiltern Hills, and provides 24-hour residential, nursing and dementia care to the elderly.

Located just minutes from the centre of Stokenchurch and with swift access from junction 5 of the M40 motorway, the home is also within easy reach of the nearby towns of Princes Risborough, Chinnor, Watlington, Maidenhead, Marlow and High Wycombe.

We look after up to 75 residents in beautifully decorated, private, en suite bedrooms, with a range of well-appointed lounges, dining rooms and landscaped, terraced gardens.

About the role:


To ensure that all areas of the Home are clean, tidy and presentable at all times creating, a positive and safe environment for Resident's and staff.


  • To comply with company standards, policies and procedures
  • To supervise, motivate and control Domestic and Laundry staff to achieve compliance with company standards policies and procedures
  • To control the purchase, consumption and handling of all chemicals and products to ensure that financial budgets are attained and all Health and Safety matters are fully complied with
  • To minimise the risk of accidents and waste by effective training and supervision
  • To complete all necessary documentation and administration to ensure the smooth running of the department
  • To check all relevant machinery and equipment to ensure it is in safe working order and to train all appropriate personnel in its correct use
  • To supervise the Laundry area ensuring an efficient and effective smooth running system is set in place for handling of personal clothing and bed linen
  • To secure Resident's property and Company's property and premises
  • To report all compliments, complaints, and comments to the Home Manager
  • To report any defects, damage, theft, breakages, or hazards to the Home Manager
  • To maintain a 4 week rota for Domestic and Laundry staff.
  • Protect all Resident's from abuse and report any concerns as per company policies and procedures
  • Clean the Home as per cleaning schedule policy and ensure that the necessary documentation is completed as required
  • Ensure all surfaces and floor coverings are kept clean and odour free
  • Respect and follow Resident's wishes with regards to positioning of personal possessions within their room ensuring that due regard to Health and Safety is given
  • Keep utility and storage rooms in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Show courtesy and respect to Resident's at all times to ensure that they enjoy the highest quality of life, respect the confidentiality of the Resident's and their families at all times and involve families and friends in the Resident's care and develop their trust
  • Communicate effectively with Resident's, their relatives, friends and other staff and external visitors to the home and deal sensitively with their concerns
  • Protect all Resident's from abuse and report any concerns as per Company Policies and procedures
  • Keep personal knowledge and job skills up to date to ensure that Resident's receive the best possible standards of care and service.
  • Carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard to Health and Safety and welfare of self, staff Resident's and other persons within Porthaven Care Homes
  • When using or storing any equipment ensure a safe environment is maintained at all times for everyone. Report any defects to either the Home Manager or the Maintenance Technician via the prescribed methods and withdraw faulty equipment from use immediately
  • Ensure that use, storage and disposal of all solutions and chemicals is in accordance with the companies policies and procedures and COSHH procedures and that the relevant personal protection equipment is utilised via the prescribed guidelines.
  • Attend and participate where required in training sessions and staff meetings
  • Maintain good working relationships with all colleagues at all times
  • Undertake any other reasonable task requested by your Home Manager which is within your area of competence.

About you:

We provide a comprehensive induction programme as well as on-going training and development.

Relevant courses, such as moving and handling, infection control, fire training and food hygiene, ensure all our employees continually update their skills and knowledge.


Salary:
£10.50 per hour


Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift

COVID-19 considerations:
Covid vaccination is compulsory for this position. PPE provided.
