Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Bar Steward to join our Social Club. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about the hospitality industry.

The Club Bar Steward is responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring the smooth running of the club and creating a welcoming atmosphere for members and guests.

The Steward will be expected to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene, manage the day-to-day running of the club, lead and manage staff, and handle all financial bar transactions.

The Club Steward should be an experienced professional, with excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, and be willing to work alongside the Club Committee.

Expected Hours: 23+ per week

Wednesday Evening: 7pm to close;
Friday Evening: 7pm to close;

Saturday Lunchtime:
pm;
Saturday Evening: 7pm to close;

Sunday Lunchtime:
pm;
Sunday Evening: 5pm to close.

  • To be paid on submission of timesheet. Additional hours may be required at Committee request dependent on organised events_

Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ensure the daily running of the club is in line with the club's policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness are maintained throughout the club.
  • Ensure all lines coming from the cellar are cleaned weekly. Ensure the cellar is clean, operational & always in accordance to the latest Health and Safety Legislation.
  • Manages the deep clean of the Cellar (minimum 4 times a year).
  • Handle all financial transactions, including taking payments and balancing the till.
  • Oversees the process/systems in place to reconcile cash received with till roll totals daily.
  • Ensures that the process for handling cash is managed correctly and is in accordance with the clubs agreed process.
  • Plans and manages the purchase of wet and dry stock. Ensures sufficient stock is always available and that stock is in date and correctly rotated.
  • Helps implement an auditable stock control system and maintains appropriate records relating to wastage, consumption, ordering and returns.
  • Supervises the work performed by other bar staff, taking responsibility for all of their work carried out.
  • To ensure there is always sufficient and appropriate staffing available, and maintaining the weekly staff rota.
  • To ensure that staff fully understand their obligations under the licensing legislation, and that all staff are fully trained in all aspects of bar work.
  • Adheres to the clubs' fire and other Health & Safety procedures and ensures all appropriate staff have adequate related training.
  • Ensure that all fire exits are kept clear and our fire doors remain closed and operational.
  • Assesses and continually monitors any maintenance, hygiene or cleanliness requirements of the club, and looks to address/solve all related concerns promptly.
  • Records and responds promptly to any matters raised by members or their guests.
  • Keeps sensitive information confidential and informs the committee of matters requiring their attention.
  • Ensure that all matters/issues are dealt with, and that they are recorded in written form for discussion/review with the committee.
  • Reports any violent or threatening actions against any club member or member of staff.
  • Ensure that all security measures are maintained, such as closing/locking doors, windows and setting the security alarm, are consistently performed by all relevant staff.
  • Ensure that staff are always smart and presentable and engage well with their customers.

Club Bar Steward Requirements:


  • Attend Committee meetings, as required, to address any points relating to the club.
  • Able to work with the committee on suggesting and trialling any new events or evenings, and to have an understanding on appealing to new/different membership groups.
  • Takes pride in a job welldone, committed to achieving high standards of service, cleanliness, and hygiene.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Previous experience of bar or club work required
  • Demonstrable experience of delivering excellent customer service
  • Previous Cellar Work Experience.
  • Knowledge of Stock Control Procedures.
  • Knowledge of Tills.

Skills

  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skills.
