Sherborne Girls have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Adventure and Outdoor Education. We are an independent, full-boarding and day school founded in 1899.

The school is situated on a beautiful campus on the western edge of the historic Abbey town of Sherborne and has an excellent academic record combined with first-rate facilities.


The post holder will be required to lead the organisation, planning and delivery of a comprehensive range of adventurous and outdoor activities for pupils in years 7-13 to develop their confidence, character and leadership skills.


The programme will build on the strong relationship with Sherborne School and Hanford School to maximise the use of the School's current resources and facilities.

This is a year round position.


Duties will include:

  • To play an active role in promoting the CCF to pupils, embedding the School's values of integrity, courage and service.
  • Perform the role of DofE Manager, taking responsibility for the daytoday running of the programme at Bronze, Silver and Gold level.
  • Perform the role of Team Manager, taking responsibility for the coordination and management of Sherborne Girls' teams including; attending briefings, producing a training programme and appointing competent and experienced staff to prepare participants for the 35mile and 45mile events.
  • Be responsible for appointing and training DofE staff in the DLC.
  • Be responsible for the adventure and outdoor education budget, including accurate forecasting, recording and recharging of expenditure.
