Description

We are the flagship site for the DS Smith Packaging site in the UK and have an opportunity for new colleagues to join our Production Planning team in Fordham under inspiring leadership team.


Operating a part of a team responsible for the effective running of the planning function for our conversion and corrugator machines, with consistent monitoring of KPI's to ensure quality performance on a daily basis, you will join a team and company which has plenty of opportunities for succession and development from entry through to Management.


Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for the effective running of the Planning function on a daytoday basis, creating computer generated production plans for both the corrugator and conversion machines.
  • Liaise with both Engineering and Operations to decide how capacity demands can be achieved, while releasing machines for crew care or any other necessary repairs.
  • Balance production and inventory levels, making adjustments to inventory target levels based on changes in demand and customer trends.
  • Assist in the review of new enquiries of nonstandard product to determine their suitability for manufacturing and fit to the business plan.
  • Facilitate the coordination of work activities alongside your team colleagues, making appropriate decisions to delight customers and to support the production plan, systems and procedures.
  • KPI monitoring and reporting plus associated project work to review performance against targets to identify opportunities for improvement as well as some Customer Services administration support as directed by Planning Optimisation Manager.
  • Develop and maintain production schedules based on customer orders and inventory levels
  • Collaborate with crossfunctional teams to ensure timely delivery of products
  • Monitor inventory levels and initiate purchase orders as needed
  • Analyze demand forecasts to determine production requirements
  • Coordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials
  • Optimize production efficiency by balancing workload and capacity
  • Identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or bottlenecks
  • Communicate schedule changes and updates to relevant stakeholders

Experience:


  • Previous experience in inventory control and production planning preferred
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities
  • Proficient in using planning software and tools
  • Knowledge of forecasting techniques and demand planning processes
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers
  • Detailoriented with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail
