Purpose of the post
- Organise, cook and prepare fresh meals every day, ensuring a healthy balanced diet that meets individual needs.
- Assist with nursery domestic duties as required.
Responsibilities
Health and Safety
- Ensure the safe handling and storage of food through the use of "Safer food Better business"
- Be responsible for hygiene and risk assessments within the kitchen area
- Consistently maintain high standards towards Health and Hygiene Inspection including Hazard Analysis Critical Control point. (HACC)
- Keep the kitchen environment clean, safe, organised and appropriately stocked
- Implement "Clean as you go" processes.
- Maintain and accurately record scheduled cleaning and disinfection
- Ensure safe and hygienic storage of cleaning materials and equipment
- Be responsible for wearing and maintaining protective clothing (PPE)
- Load and unload the dishwasher, wash up excess dishes, pans and cutlery
- Sweep and mop the floor with correct cleaning materials
- Leave the kitchen safe, clean and tidy at the end of the shift
- Identify and report any infestations in line with basic food hygiene criteria. Then carry out any control measures implemented by the pest control contractor or Nursery Manager
- Ensure regular accurate recording of temperature controls
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager any changes to kitchen related paperwork, so that it can be agreed and implemented
Nutrition
- Coordinate cooking preparation and serving of the meals using portion control
- Liaise with the Nursery Manager regarding the purchase of provisions to allow continuous stock control
- Liaise with practitioners daily to ensure that each child's individual needs are being catered for and implement special dietary requirements by following written instructions
- Liaise with the practitioners to present food appropriately taking into consideration the needs and development of babies and children
- Ensure meals are ready to be served at the regular agreed time
- Regularly evaluate the menu, to include seasonal products and dishes from different cultures inline with "Eat Better, Start Better" guidance
- Keep any changes to the menu to a minimum, liaising with the Nursery Manager and informing practitioners.
Salary:
£10.75-£11.05 per hour
Expected hours: 25 per week
