Group Financial Controller - London - Baringa Partners LLP
Description
OverviewLondon, United Kingdom; Remote, United Kingdom
We set out to build the world's most trusted consulting firm - creating lasting impact for clients and pioneering a positive, people-first way of working. We work with everyone from FTSE 100 names to bright new start-ups, in every sector. We'll collaborate with clients from the big picture to detail: helping them define strategy, deliver complex change, spot the right commercial opportunities, manage risk, or bring purpose and sustainability goals to life. Our clients value how we get to know what makes their organisations tick and slot seamlessly into their teams.
We have hubs in Europe, the US, Asia and Australia, and we work all around the world - from a wind farm in Wyoming to a boardroom in Berlin. Find us wherever there's a challenge to be tackled and an impact to be made.
RoleOur Finance Team are looking for an experienced Group Financial Controller to join them. The Finance team enables and supports Baringa's financial success, delivering a great finance service to our various stakeholders. It provides the necessary support to ensure our growing business is in control of its financial and commercial performance, as well as compliant with relevant UK and international finance and tax regulations. The team spans Finance Operations, Financial Control, Tax and Commercial Finance.
At Baringa, we embed a culture of continuous improvement across all our processes and controls. It is imperative that Baringa's Group Financial Control team is familiar with our current and progressing regulatory environment, and updating financial policy, processes, and controls as the regulatory environment and compliance requirements evolve. Additionally, we are near to completing a finance transformation project which will ultimately deliver Microsoft Dynamics as our new finance system in April 2026.
What you will be doingReporting to the CFO and working alongside the wider Finance Leadership Team, you will be responsible for our global financial control environment, management and financial reporting, audit, global corporate financial and tax compliance, and managing our banking relationships. You will have a dedicated team of ten professionals to lead and motivate.
Support the Baringa finance transformation programme in implementing best in class processes, financial controls and reporting.
Own the group's financial policy and controls, ensuring Baringa's financial processes and procedures operate within a strong control environment and ensure regulatory compliance.
Ensure Baringa is prepared to meet all regulatory requirements as the organization grows and reaches certain thresholds, such as CFD reporting.
Be responsible for global business tax compliance (e.g. VAT, PSA, Corporation Tax), with support from the in-house Tax Manager.
Be responsible for facilitating the cross-border working of Baringa's employees and partners with the expansion of Baringa's global footprint, whilst minimising risks of permanent establishments, associated costs and financial risks.
Help to ensure Baringa's risk appetite is adhered to and incorporated within Baringa's financial processes and procedures whilst also utilising knowledge of accounting standards to influence financial policy that supports Baringa's commercial strategy.
Be the "technical expert" across the Finance function, advising on best practice and the application of accounting standards across Baringa with particular emphasis on FRS102 and the LLP SORP.
Manage the statutory financial audits of the LLP and its global subsidiaries, leading the relationship with auditors and presenting updates and outcomes to the Finance & Audit Committee
Be responsible for Baringa's intercompany policy, including transfer pricing, ensuring our policies are appropriate and compliant from both a commercial and statutory perspective.
Be responsible for the production of group monthly management reports, including "flash" utilisation and revenue.
Lead the relationship with our global banking partners and review financing decisions.
Be responsible for new bank account openings, and new and renewal of guarantee facilities.
Develop our treasury function, policies and approach
Your skills and experience
Qualified accountant minimum 10 years of PQE

Track record of operating at Financial Controller or similar level within an international business setting; demonstrable experience of leading and motivating teams
Experience within the professional services sector would be advantageous
Resilient and committed individual, able to operate in a fast paced and challenging environment

Generous Annual Leave Policy: We recognise everyone needs a well-deserved break. We provide our employees with 5 weeks of annual leave, fully available at the start of each year. In addition to this, we have introduced our 5-Year Recharge benefit which allows all employees an additional 2 weeks of paid leave after 5 years continuous service.
Flexible Working: We know that the 'ideal' work-life balance will vary from person to person and change at different stages of our working lives. To accommodate this, we have implemented a hybrid working policy and introduced more flexibility around taking unpaid leave.
Corporate Responsibility Days: Our world is important to us, so all our employees get 3 every year to help social and environmental causes and increase our impact on the communities that mean the most to us.
Wellbeing Fund: We want to encourage all employees to take charge and prioritise their own wellbeing. We've introduced our annual People Fund to support this by offering every individual a fund to support and manage their wellbeing through an activity of their choice.
Profit Share Scheme: All employees participate in the Baringa Group Profit Share Scheme so everyone has a stake in the company's success.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda is about giving back to the communities in which we live and work by sharing our skills, talent and time. In essence, we aim to empower and encourage everyone in the firm to contribute to the things we care about, and support registered charities and organisations with a clear social or environmental purpose to increase the positive impact they can have.
