This staff nurse post is for male acute wards at North View o ur new state-of-the-art adult mental health inpatient hospital, North View, became fully operational on Monday 18 November 2024.

The bespoke, purpose-built development replaces Park House on the North Manchester General Hospital (NMGH) site and marks the beginning of a new chapter for the future of inpatient mental health care for people in Manchester.

The new hospital significantly improves patient privacy and dignity, providing:

150 single en-suite bedrooms which are provided over nine single sex wards, including a purpose-built Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), six adult acute wards for female and male adults, one female older adults ward, one male rehabilitation ward and a treatment suite that supports research and innovation studies.

An assessment suite (specifically for people needing a place of safety and assessment under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act).

A variety of internal activity areas and multiple outside garden spaces, specifically designed to enhance the environment and aid recovery.

In alignment with the core philosophy of the ward/unit, the post holder assumes a pivotal role in the comprehensive assessment, meticulous planning, diligent implementation, and thorough evaluation of care for identified clients. Acting as the Primary Nurse, they are entrusted with the responsibility of catering to service users who present with complex and challenging needs within the service framework. The post holder is committed to delivering tailored interventions on an individual basis, ensuring that the care provided is grounded in effective, evidence-based practices. To facilitate the successful delivery of a holistic care package that addresses the diverse needs of service users, robust communication and collaboration with various disciplines are essential. Moreover, the post holder will extend their expertise by offering support and guidance to junior team members, fostering an environment of learning and professional development. Their leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth coordination and efficient operation of the ward, ultimately enhancing the quality of care provided to all service users.
