DC Thomson is seeking a motivated and creative communications executive to join our team during an exciting period of transformation.

We are looking for someone to help us transform how we tell our story and make a positive impact on our culture, seeking out stories from across our business and creating opportunities for our colleagues to connect.


Working within the growing communications team, this role will be responsible for creating compelling content for both internal and external audiences and helping to manage and develop our communications channels.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborating with colleagues across DC Thomson to uncover our stories and tell them in a compelling way
  • Creating content to drive engagement with colleagues
  • Supporting with the organisation and delivery of engagement events
  • Developing internal communications channels including newsletters and employee hub
  • Supporting with external communications including press releases, social media and websites
  • Bringing creative ideas to the team on content and trends
  • Supporting the wider communications team with a range of tasks
  • Monitoring and evaluating the success of our communications strategy, striving for continuous improvement

About you:


  • Experience of working in a dynamic communications environment
  • A positive attitude and be motivated to quickly build relationships and seek out stories from across the DC Thomson business
  • An excellent writer with creative flair who is brimming with ideas and imagination
  • Experience of creating a range of multimedia content
  • You'll be a natural problem solver, tenacious and determined using your initiative and collaborating with colleagues to find the best solutions
  • You'll have good judgement, working well to deadlines, managing different projects, stakeholders and changing priorities
  • You'll have experience in managing and developing communications channels including intranet, newsletters and running events. Experience in MS Teams, Viva, Sharepoint and WordPress would be beneficial
  • A background in journalism and/or marketing and content creation would be beneficial

  • This is a fulltime, permanent position, working 35 hours per week. This is a hybrid role offering a blend of home and office working. We are flexible about your home location providing you are willing to travel to one of our offices in Dundee, Glasgow or Aberdeen.
