Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Stockport, Contract Type: Full-Time

Salary: £18,000 - £25,000 per annum (depending on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at an inclusive primary school in Stockport. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to support students with special educational needs (SEN) across the school.

Main Responsibilities

  • Support individual students or small groups of children with special educational needs.
  • Implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and learning strategies as directed by the class teacher.
  • Foster an inclusive, supportive, and nurturing classroom environment.
  • Assist with the development of students' academic and social skills.
  • Work closely with teachers to monitor progress and adapt teaching approaches.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help with emotional or behavioural support.
  • Support students during breaks and lunch times, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, teachers, and other professionals regarding students' progress and well-being.

Person Specification

  • Experience working with children, ideally in an educational setting (experience with SEN is an advantage).
  • A passion for supporting children with special educational needs and helping them to achieve their full potential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt to each child's unique needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
