Research by the International Security Programme (ISP) focuses on three key themes which are vital to sustaining international peace and security in a world characterised by geopolitical competition and rapid technological advancement against the background of a weakening of the rules-based international order.

These key themes include strengthening the global security architecture, reducing technological risks to security, and preventing violent conflict. We carry out independent, thought-leading research, bringing together diverse perspectives, and injecting new insights into the international arena.


This is an exciting role for a Programme Coordinator with a keen interest in international security, who will be key to supporting our activities by providing coordination across financial administration, publications, events, and research projects and proposals.


Main Duties and Responsibilities:


Delivery:


  • Events: organise and coordinate events, including logistics and travel and accommodation, as needed; represent ISP at meetings of the Events Working Group.
  • Publications and communications: collate outputs for newsletters and other communication materials; promote ISP's research and support with running social media channels; maintain the programme's website pages; coordinate production of research publications and keep records up to date.
  • Journal of

Cyber Policy:

assist in the production of the Journal, including managing manuscript submissions, generating status reports, updating trackers; run articles through iThenticate and send results to Editor; work closely with publishers, authors and peer reviewers; disseminate marketing materials and copies of the Journal on publication of each issue; coordinate editorial meetings.


  • Administration: general maintenance of office systems; financial administration (e.g. raise and process invoices, expense claims and credit card statements, maintain financial records); administration of CRM database and maintaining data in compliance with GDPR processes.

People:


  • First point of contact for enquiries; liaison with funders, partners and key ISP contacts.
  • Administration of Associate Fellowships.
  • Direct support to the ISP Programme Manager, Research and Deputy Director.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues and create a positive working culture, ensuring good practice is shared and embodying the institute's highquality standards.

Strategy:


  • Assist with budgeting for proposals, financial reporting and support project management of an exciting schedule of activities and outputs.
  • Identify areas for collaboration and efficiencies, working across the International Security Programme to help drive these.

Person Specification:


Essential:


  • Outstanding administration, coordination and organisational skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and able to work under tight timeframes whilst balancing various tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in coordinating high quality events, online and inperson.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting.
  • A team player, able to form positive working relationships with people at all levels, internally and externally.
  • Good IT skills and familiarity with Office 365 suite (inc. MS Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Good general knowledge of global affairs and an interest in international security

Desirable:


  • Experience with production of publications.
  • Experience working with databases/CRM software.
  • Experience of working with a research institute.

£32,500 per annum
