SENIOR POLICY ADVISOR, INDUSTRY TRANSITION AND CCS, LONDON


E3G is looking for a Senior Policy Advisor to join its Clean Economy team to develop and lead our work on UK industry decarbonisation.

E3G is an independent climate change think tank with a global outlook.

We are world leading strategists on the political economy of climate change, dedicated to achieving a safe climate for all.


This Senior Policy Advisor role will lead on developing and delivering E3G's strategy to shape the transformation of industry in the UK in line with the transition to net-zero.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing political strategy and E3G thought leadership to support policies aligned with a netzero UK.
  • Undertaking analysis, developing practical policy and institutional proposals, understanding the politics of change, building coalitions and leading interventions around UK industrial transformation.
  • Lead advocacy on UK industrial transformation, engaging with government officials, politicians and parliamentary committees.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Clean Economy and Fossil Fuels Transition teams on shaping the development of CCS policy in the UK and Europe.
  • Producing highquality analysis and communication materials, on political and policy issues related to UK industrial transformation.
  • Engaging with and strengthen E3G's key stakeholder networks, supporting NGOs, businesses, cities and investor groups, as well as managing relationships with these stakeholders.
  • Support fundraising efforts.
  • Travel may be required.
Person Description

You are intellectually curious and enthusiastic about developing solutions in the transition to net zero. You are committed to high quality outputs and use collaboration to get to better outcomes. You are able to undertake strategic prioritisation. You are able to work in a team of diverse personalities. You are comfortable with complex research projects and confident in running analytical processes.

You will be able to identify and engage with a range of external stakeholders to understand their perspectives and communicate your ideas and findings.

Experience and Skills

  • Have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (required) and postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (desirable).
  • Have 5 to 8 years of relevant professional experience. You bring indepth experience and established networks on industrial transformation and CCS.
  • Have experience in developing and implementing outcome focused strategies using problem solving and research, constantly developing and refining your arguments and analysis through conversations with experts, assessing legislation or policy statements, and political context.
  • Demonstrate a trackrecord of building, leading and managing stakeholder relationships and partnerships.
  • Be a strong team player, committed to achieving E3G's objectives and capable of inspiring and facilitating action by others. You work effectively to support shared team outcomes.
  • Communicate very effectively in written and spoken English.
  • Have experience of advocacy, including influencing officials and decisionmakers from government and parliament.
  • Some experience supporting the development of staff.
Further details

This role is located in London.

E3G operates a flexible working environment, with staff expected to come to the office at least twice a week on average.

A remuneration package competitive with the non-profit sector will be offered. Salary is up to £55,000, depending on experience.
