Description
To provide a high level of professional and confidential coordination of the administrative staff for the Acute Care Unit.

The post holder will provide support to the Service Manager/Assistant Service Manager in all aspects of hospital and community performance management.

The Care unit Coordinator is a leadership role within our organisation.

Support to Senior Staff/Other Care Unit & Waiting List/Time Management


  • To provide specialist administrative services to senior clinical/non clinical staff.
  • To provide cover as required, during periods of absence, for relevant colleagues within the care unit.
  • To support the Service Manager/Performance Manager to collect and analyse any relevant data and make recommendations to the Service Manager/Performance Manager in respect of the maintenance of inpatient and outpatient waiting list/time guarantees and support the Service Manager/Performance Manager to reduce the waiting lists.
  • To ensure the Service Manager/Performance Manager aware of any problems which could affect the achievement of waiting time targets and implement corrective action.
  • Assist in the organisation and operation of additional outpatient clinics and theatre lists including diagnostics where appropriate to meet waiting time targets.
  • Monitor slot availability on Choose and Book on a regular basis and provide sufficient slots to ensure that services are continually available on the e-booking menu.
  • Provide non-clinical advice to patients in terms of appointment waiting times, ensuring that correct information is given and guide patients where appropriate.
  • Liaise with the information department for the provision of information as needed. This information could be complex, sensitive or contentious.

  • To develop a close working relationship with the Care Unit Management Team to assist in the identification and resolution of day to day operational problems.
  • To assist in ensuring the Care Unit meets its obligations in fulfilling both quality and contracting standards.
  • To have a good understanding of the Medway outpatient and waiting list modules ensuring
  • To action complex instructions from relevant designated staff within the Care Unit and wider Division.
Operational


  • To develop a close working relationship with the Care Unit Management Team to assist in the identification and resolution of day to day operational problems.
  • To assist in ensuring the Care Unit meets its obligations in fulfilling both quality and contracting standards.
  • To have a good understanding of the Medway outpatient and waiting list modules ensuring
Compassion, Achievement, Relationships, Environment compliance with upgrades as appropriate.


  • To have a good understanding of other IT systems used across the care unit and that reports are available from the systems.
  • To attend and participate in meetings and take accurate action notes when required.
