Our client is a leading General Insurance firm offering a range of lines to their customers.

The Group Risk Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of an effective Group-wide Risk Management Framework suitable for thesize and complexity of the business.

The Group Risk Manager will consider consumers in all aspects of all activities undertaken to ensure that they are treated fairly.


Responsibilities of the job include:

  • Ensures a robust, proportionate and consistent Risk Management Framework is developed, documented and implemented across all regulated entities within the Group
  • Identifies, manages and regularly reviews the key risks to the regulated firms, incorporating conduct risk, operational risk, regulatory risk, strategic and financial risks.
  • Ensures appropriate (and consistent) Groupwide risk identification, management and escalation processes operate, including;
- adoption of Groupwide consistent methodologies for assessment of each risk;
- the management of Groupwide Risk Events; and

  • Groupwide tracking of related actions to closure.
  • Chairs and manages the Operational Risk Forum
  • Effective and efficient management of the company's Groupwide risk management system, Magique.
  • Maintains and updates the Group and regulated entities Risk Registers.
  • Working with senior management and key individuals across the Group, to develop, document and maintain, and provide regular oversight of the key controls being operated by first line to mitigate the Group's key risks. (Ownership of the control frameworksrest with the first line)
  • Where controls are deemed partially effective or ineffective, ensure action plans are in place to improve the control effectiveness and maintain oversight over the delivery of the actions within the agreed timeframes.
  • Liaises closely with the compliance, compliance monitoring and internal audit functions to ensure regular assessment of risks and the effectiveness of the associated controls.
  • Assists in the development and maintenance of the Group's risk appetite statements and risk tolerance assessments.

Requirements:


  • Demonstrable practical experience of developing, documenting, implementing and overseeing risk management frameworks within in a regulated and customer focused industry.
  • Experience of supporting and guiding the business to identify and document first line risks and controls.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management best practice.
  • Significant practical experience of the general insurance industry, including knowledge of the general insurance market, its products, distribution channels and postsale activities.
