Brief Description:
As an Industrial Placement student at Network Rail, you are committing to a 12-month placement within the regional Engineering & Asset Management Team.
You will support the wider regional business and assist in the management of the vast array of assets within the Track asset portfolio.
From century old cuttings and tunnels to the most recently installed track and drainage systems, this is an opportunity to put your engineering skills into practice in an environment where modern technology meets Victorian engineering.
About the role (External):
Key Accountabilities:
- Involvement with inspections, monitoring and assessment of assets and the evaluation of the reports in accordance with policy, systems, and standards.
- Specify and prioritise actions to address defects and other issues raised in the reports, in accordance with standards and, for inclusion in work plans.
- Undertake engineering analysis and risk assessments of assets or asset components to support the asset management process and scheme development, including business cases and whole life cost analysis.
- Provide support to the specification and development of enhancement schemes and manage the interface with network capability programmes.
- Maintain asset data and information within the company systems and processes.
- Provide engineering support and participate in investigations of incidents relating to assets.
- Monitor the technical development of projects, determining whether the proposed works are appropriate, correctly interpreted and any changes are agreed. Assist with the approval in principle of designs and support acceptance of detailed designs.
- Working towards a civil/mechanical engineering bachelor's degree
- Enthusiasm to learn about asset management
- Shows initiative and takes opportunities to fully utilise time on placement
- Knowledge of engineering policies and standards
- An understanding of safety management systems and risk assessment techniques
Salary:
£17,000
