The Role


The A&H team sits within the Specialty Claims Division (alongside Aviation, Canopius Portfolio Risks, Cyber, Space and Specialist Consumer Products (SCP)) as part of the global Claims function.

The successful individual in addition to providing ad-hoc support to the SCP team would be given the opportunity (if desired) to cross train into one or more of the other classes of business as part of their personal development.


Responsibilities will include:


  • Develop a thorough understanding of the claims within the A&H and SCP portfolio
  • Ensure that adequate financial provisions are maintained and reported appropriately.
  • Proactively adjust claims within their claims authority and in accordance with the Canopius claims manual; ensuring and delivering the very highest service to all our customers by effectively driving claims through to resolution.
  • Nurture and maintain collaborative working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; in particular with the underwriters for these classes of business.
  • Instruct and proactively work with panel lawyers, adjusters, and experts to ensure the best outcomes whilst controlling costs and reducing claims leakage.
  • To ensure Delegated Claims are managed in accordance with Canopius claims values; ensuring effective oversight of DCAs/Service Providers via regular reporting on KPIs, reviewing large movements on any one binder, peer reviews, file reviews and generally sharing of best practice.
