RSR Justice are currently recruiting on behalf of our client based in Sandwell for a Health & Safety Lead Officer to support and work alongside the existing Lead Health and Safety Officer on assessing and promoting health and safety compliance in commissioned social care provision, for example, in care homes and day centres.


This is a full time, temporary role, initially until Dec 2023 and offers a rate of pay of £19.85 per hour.

Hybrid working available.


Main Duties:


  • Supporting a positive health and safety culture within care and support services.
  • Supporting senior managers in overseeing all aspects of health and safety in the care and support sector in accordance with legislation, codes of practice, safe methods of work and accepted good practice.
  • Delivering health and safety training as required.
  • Providing an innovative and hands on approach to improving health and safety systems and procedures within the care and support sector.
  • Supporting events that take place to ensure that the highest health and safety standards are maintained.
  • Maintaining existing health and safety systems.
  • Recording, reporting and investigating accidents in the care and support sector where required and ensuring that RIDDOR reports are completed.
  • Carrying out audits, inspections and health and safety monitoring in care and support services.
  • Undertaking project work as required to improve and enhance the safety culture of the care and support sector.

Essential Requirements:


  • N.E.B.O.S.H Certificate, N.E.B.O.S.H. Diploma (or studying towards) or NVQ in Occupational Health and Safety Practice (Level 4).
  • Minimum 3 years as a practising health and safety adviser.
  • Able to demonstrate good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of delivering health and safety training courses.
  • Experience of developing health and safety policies and procedures.
  • A detailed knowledge of health and safety legislation, and its impact/implementation.
  • Sound knowledge of auditing health and safety management systems.
