An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner to join our highly-skilled and dedicated Recovery Team, working in our state of the art Theatres at Mersey & West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Applicants must be registered with the NMC or HCPC and should be enthusiastic, self-motivated with a commitment to provide quality patient care within the post -operative phase of the patients journey.
The post holder may be required to work across both Whiston and St Helens sites and must be flexible to work weekends evenings and on call.
- To supervise the development of clinical teams by creating a learning environment in which the individuals' performance is reviewed.
- To supervise the delegation of work within the team and review performance.
- To work with and on behalf of the Theatre Operational Lead managing key operational aspects of theatres and providing support and advice on all matters.
- To establish excellent working relationships with all service users and actively encourage and promote joint working in the pursuit of continuous service improvement.
- To effectively manage departmental budgets by coordinating the monitoring and review process of the use of income and expenditure

KEY DUTIES

- Act as a role model within the clinical working area and to present a professional image to which inspires confidence and trust in the delivery of care.
- Working within the NMC/AODP 'Scope of Professional Practice' be professionally accountable and responsible to the team leader for the formulation and implementation of individual patient care, taking a dynamic and researchbased approach.
- At all times to act as the patients advocate by considering their individual physical and psychological needs. Whilst providing and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment.
- To keep professionally updated with current research relating to clinical practice and participate in supporting students and trainee ODP's.
- To act as a mentor/preceptor to trained learners and facilitate the acquisition of newly trained staff's competencies and skills.
- To personally take responsibility for own professional updating and maintain a personal record for future registration purposes.
