Vacancy for 2 X Part-time Outreach Worker

15 hours per week

16 hours per week

**We are looking to recruit an Outreach Worker to join our friendly team:
  • _Do you like to make a difference?_
- _Are you a good team player?_
- _Are you committed to supporting those with additional needs and be aware of the challenges they and their parents/carers face?_
- _Do you have good and adaptable communication skills?_
- _Do you have good organisation skills and the ability to work on your own initiative?_
- _Are you will to attend and participate in fundraising and promotional events?_

If the answer to the questions above is yes - then we would like to hear from you.

We are a registered charity based in Spennymoor - although our service is available to families across most of County Durham.

We provide the unique service of loaning out specialist resources, equipment and toys to children/young people and adults with additional needs.

Our sole purpose is to encourage our members, by the use of our resources, to develop emotionally and/or physically and thereby achieve their full potential.

We support over 500 members throughout the County with our free loan service.

This service is provided by our friendly Outreach Workers who are a vital part of our team, building up good relationships with our members and their families/carers.

Using Learning Library transport, they visit members in their own homes/environments to discuss individual needs and will offer support and encouragement.

They will obtain feedback, listen to any suggestions and will encourage our members, whenever possible, to make their own choices.

Ideally you will have:

  • Excellent listening skills;
  • A "can do" attitude;
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and social media;
  • Experience of working with/caring for children/young people or adults with additional needs.
However, we appreciate that not everyone can tick every single box. So, if you can do most of what we are looking for, please go ahead and apply. You could be exactly what we need.

The hours will be worked for 2.5 days and may just occasionally consist of one late night (6pm) dependant upon the needs of service.

The successful applicant will be required to drive a small outreach van (car size) and a driving assessment will form part of the appointment.

Applicants should hold a current full clean driving licence and, additionally, any appointment will be conditional on satisfactory references and a successful enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) check.

Also include whether you yourself have a disability and any adjustments we would need to make should you be selected for interview.
