Lathom House Surgery are looking for an experienced Health Care Assistant to undertake 30hrs/week over 4 days Mon Tue Thurs & Fri.

As an experienced Health Care Assistant you will have pre-booked clinics to see patients of the practice.

It is essential applicants have experience of taking blood, and measuring blood pressure, and would be advantageous if able to administer flu vaccines and B12 injections.

Ideally with GP practice and preferably hold a Care Certificate within General Practice.

Commencement of post Sep 2023.

Main duties of the job

  • Health checks
  • ECG recording
  • Blood pressure monitoring
  • Long term conditions initial reviews
  • Phlebotomy
  • Chaperoning duties
  • Smoking Cessation
  • Weight Management
  • Pre diabetic checks
  • Processing and management of laboratory samples requested by GPs/Nurses
  • Vaccine/cold chain storage, monitoring and recording
  • Surgical equipment and vaccine restocking and stock rotation
  • Ordering of stock
  • Clearing and restocking consulting rooms
  • Preparing and maintaining environments and equipment before, during and after patient care interventions including assisting GPs during the performance of minor operations
  • Assisting in the assessment and surveillance of patients' health and wellbeing
  • Assisting with the collection and collation of data on needs related to health and wellbeing
  • Administrating influenza, Shingles, Pneumococcal and B12 injection under the supervision of the Practice Nurse in accordance with practice protocol and PSD.
About us

Lathom House Surgery is part of the Northern PCN. We are a friendly, well-established, family practice with around 4400 patients. You will be joining one GP Partner, other regular locum GPs and a Practice Nurse. The practice is based in Burscough Nr Ormskirk in a NHS Property managed building alongside two other GP Practices. The clinical system is EMIS.

You may be required to work on occasions in our other Practices in Skelmersdale and Winstanley for training, meetings or absence cover.

Interviews will be held 4th August 23.

Working under the direct supervision of the Practice Nurse and GP Partner and strictly in accordance with specific Practice guidelines and protocols, the Healthcare Assistant will assist the Practice clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.

  • Ensure fridges are cleaned routinely in accordance with IPC guidance
  • Ensure clinical waste is removed from clinical areas and sharps bins replaced in accordance with the practice IPC policy

Experience Essential
