Are you an Finance professional seeking a new, challenging role within a smaller financial services provider? Our client is a customer centric mortgage and savings provider, with a fantastic opportunity for a Financial Controller to join their Finance team.


This individual will be analytical, organised and solution focused, and be able to build key relationships while influencing change through effective financial control management.

The purpose of the role is to support the Finance Team (7 FTE) in managingthe control environment of the finance function, ensuring regulatory and statutory compliance.

This role will give you a great opportunity to hone the skills needed to become a CFO of the future.


Key duties of the Financial Controller will include:

Financial accounting and control

  • Monthly reconciliation of financial systems and ledger balances to provide timely and accurate monthly trial balance
  • Ensuring compliance with Treasury policy.
  • Ensuring a strong control environment within the finance department

Statutory financial reporting

  • Preparation of consolidated group and company monthly / annual results for the management accounts to audit standards, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP (FRS 102)
  • Provide auditquality support and analysis of significant management judgement areas and going concern. Manage the external audit relationship

Tax compliance

  • Ensure accurate and timely compliance with all tax reporting and filing obligations e.g. Corporation Tax returns, FATCA and Common Reporting Standard.

Regulatory reporting

  • Accurate and timely completion of specified regulatory returns
  • Oversee regulatory reporting processes across the business

CFO support & Team Management

  • Maintain appropriate technical knowledge and keep up to date with developments in financial and regulatory reporting matters
  • Contribute to financial planning process and adhoc scenario planning as required
  • Management, motivation and development of the Financial Control team

The successful individual will possess:


  • ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified Finance Manager (or above) level with proven management experience
  • A wealth of knowledge in regulatory and statutory reporting
  • A background within financial services, preferably a mortgage lender


Whilst our client is based near Cambridge, they are happy to offer a very flexible approach to the working week.

You will only be required to attend the office for business needs such as meetings that have to be undertaken f2f so it is only expected thatyou will be in the office 1-2 days a week.
