The role

This is a great opportunity for someone at the start of their career who wants to gain wide experience of all aspects of sales with some marketing, social media and some general office administration, working for a successful, established, and dynamic company based in the heart of London.

We're a small, friendly team and we pride ourselves on training and providing opportunities for development to all staff.

Our internship programme has been running for several years and we are proud of the cohort of interns who have made a real mark in the company.

Our fantastic intern alumni have shown that this is a unique opportunity to gain meaningful experience of autonomous work.

Video interviews are not available as interviews will take place in our offices.

About The Positive Internet Company

We're a successful tech company based in Soho with a technology facility in Cambridgeshire and small (but growing) business in the US.We specialise in high-end web hosting and we're long-established (for our industry) with interesting clients ranging from Stephen Fry and Ricky Gervais through the BBC, major banks and financial services firms to leading NGOs and charities.

We also have a sister company called Timpani, mainly focusing on WordPress and some intern duties may relate to Timpani.

About the role

We're currently looking for a sales intern who will also have the opportunity to help with social media and marketing and some general administrative office support.

No particular business experience is necessary though you should have an interest in business development, be enthusiastic to make deals, and have familiarity with social media.

The internship is offered for six months in the first instance.
This role would suit someone looking to work in a friendly, informal company rather than a more corporate environment.
We're a small, friendly team and everyone helps out across a range of areas.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Assist the sales team in arranging meetings; this is not a cold calling role, but some calls to new business prospects are required.
  • Develop good working relationships with Positive partners.
  • Attend and set up sales meetings.
  • Work with the rest of the Positive team to implement communications strategy with agreed objectives and key messages.
  • Help to develop engaging content across a range of platforms to promote Positive's services using a range of channels including social media, events, news media, etc.
  • Update content as needed on the Positive website and, where required, set up, update, manage and monitor social media sites & apps, e.g. Twitter, Instagram etc to help achieve communications objectives.
  • Take photographs or video as needed.
  • Serve as a focal point and coordinator for Positive communications and engagement work, including collating and disseminating information as needed.
  • Assist with special events and client lunches/dinners and other corporate entertaining.
  • Be prepared to work out of hours on occasion if needed.
  • Provide general administrative support to the sales team and to the CEO.
  • General office administrative duties, including transferring phone calls, managing customer account details, invoicing, and payments.
We won't be looking over your shoulder the whole time, so you should be motivated and organised. We are looking for someone with excellent English both oral and written.

Beyond basic computer skills, no special experience is necessary; the most important thing is enthusiasm to work hard as part of the team.

Our offices are just off Carnaby Street, right by the trendy Newburgh Quarter and with Soho on your doorstep. Nearest tube is Oxford Circus.

You'll be entitled to 25 days of paid annual leave (pro rata where appropriate) + Bank Holidays.

Further benefits include a company mobile phone and invitations to our regular events in London and beyond. There may be opportunities for international travel and professional development within the company.

Standard hours are 9:30-5:30, Monday-Friday. It may be possible to offer some flexible working by special arrangement.

Applicants must be available to start immediately.

The salary is London Living Wage (currently £13.15 per hour).
