Job description

  • We are currently looking for an HR Advisor to join our established team at Oxford City Council. This is a part time position working up to 23 hours per week. We can be flexible about how you work these hours (whether over 3,4 or 5 days a week).
  • In this role you will coach and advise managers across the organisation on a range of employee relations cases including absence management, poor performance, organisational change, disciplinaries and grievances. You will attend formal meetings, advise on employment law, policy, procedures, and best practice to ensure we consistently do the right thing by our staff.
  • You'll also have an opportunity to shape our future policies and processes through the review and update of our core employment policy documents as well as getting involved in project work across the HR function.
  • We are looking for HR professionals who have experience in advising on core people policies, reviewing and updating policies in line with UK legislation and who have previously liaised with Trade Union or Employee Representative Groups on employment matters.
  • The role will be based mostly at home but there is an expectation to attend Oxford Town Hall as needed for team meetings, catch up and casework.
  • You will have the opportunity to make a real difference and work with a great and welcoming team. People across all areas of our business are committed, friendly and focused on improving and developing services. Delivering a great employee experience is one of our top priorities and the People Consultant is a key post in ensuring we treat people fairly, consistently and in line with our policies and processes.
