Apprentice Project Support Officer

37 Hours per week - Fixed term until 31 July 2024

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Dorset Council as a project support apprentice in the Dorset Care Record team, you will complete a level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship whilst being supported and trained in a project environment.


You will be completing a level 3 Business Administration qualification and will be given 20% off the job time to focus and complete your apprenticeship each week.


Our apprenticeships are designed to give you the hands-on experience needed in a real job that brings out the best in you, with real responsibilities, real challenges, real projects and scope to grow your career.


Undertaking this apprenticeship you will gain a highly transferable set of knowledge, skills and behaviours that can be applied in all sectors.

In addition to learning how to develop, implement, maintain and improve administrative services in their organisation, you will develop key skills and behaviours to support your own progression towards management responsibilities.

You must deliver your responsibilities efficiently and with integrity, showing a positive attitude.

As part of the apprenticeship, you will develop and demonstrate strong communication skills and adopt a proactive approach to developing skills.

You are also expected to show initiative, managing priorities and own time, problem-solving skills, and decision-making.


What you will be doing


The apprenticeship is within the Dorset Care Record team which is a partnership team working closely with the NHS as well as within the council.

You will support us in the delivery of the established programme by using your skills to coordinate our governance and report progress within the partnership.

You will have the opportunity to work closely with Dorset's Acute Hospitals, NHS Dorset, Dorset HealthCare and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council requiring you to build and develop strong working relationships.

About you
Skills required

  • Ensure that projects are supported with key information.
  • Day to day support of invoices or purchase orders.
  • Monitoring action trackers and maintaining schedules.
  • Good IT skills
  • Support with the collection of statistical data and management information as required ensuring timely and accurate provision of information.
  • To support with enquiries, complaints and resolving queries within the remit of the role.

  • A selfstarter, highly motivated, enthusiastic, dedicated and driven to achieve high standards and results.
