An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Maternity Support Worker to play a pivotal role in the delivery of care to our women who are looking for support to stop smoking, and participate in the safe and effective management of the midwifery services under the supervision of registered midwives.
The Band 4 Smoking Cessation Maternity Support Worker will contribute in a variety of activities of patient/client care to the level of experience and assessed competence that he/she has acquired.
The service users come from a variety of cultural backgrounds and the Maternity Support Worker must be able to communicate effectively.
We are looking for an individual who is committed, compassionate and self-motivated, able to work well within a team and under pressure.

Please review all documents attached to this advert to ensure you familiarise yourself with all requirements of the job.- To support pregnant women and postnatal women to adopt healthy lifestyles and provide health promotion advice
- To offer support to pregnant women and their families in accessing stop smoking advice, information and support; including NRT where required.
- To actively signpost women to available services relating to their wellbeing needs
- To provide staff updates and support staff in providing stop smoking support
- To work collaboratively with outside agencies such as stop smoking services
- To update skills and knowledge as changes or improvements in care occur.
- To be aware of the hospital's policies with reference to fire, accident reporting, infection control and health and safety.
- To report any concerns about Child Protection immediately to the Delivery Suite Coordinator or Matron.
- To establish good relations with all grades of staff to ensure that good communication is maintained.
- To work in a manner that protects confidentiality at all times
