About the role


We are currently on the lookout for a Warehouse Operative and distribution driver with a strong desire to provide excellent customer satisfaction and great service The role will involve a range of duties and responsibilities from stock rotation to deliveries and collections, as well as taking ownership of van maintenance and working collectively as part of a team to help provide a time-effective positive service.


This role is a full-time, permanent position working 35 hours per week, involving weekend work and offering a salary of £11.10 per hour.


Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • A variety of driving and Warehouse work
  • Collection and delivery of food driving the Foodbank and Food Club vans around the Knowsley and Liverpool City Region
  • Support the team by assisting with organising stock in the Warehouse
  • Support our Warehouse Workers/Drivers in their role across other projects by occasionally deputising for them.
  • Occasionally undertake additional duties to help support the wider team
  • To participate in any appropriate training opportunities.
  • To be comfortable with frequent manual handling and occasional heavy lifting
  • Ensure safe and responsible driving, following all laws and the highway code to maintain a safe and healthy work environment
  • Perform weekly vehicle checks on the vans they use
  • General housekeeping duties in the vans and warehouse building

About you
To be considered for this role, we are looking for the following skills and attributes:

  • Full driving licence and use of own vehicle
  • Basic knowledge of the charity sector
  • A passionate understanding and commitment to deliver a forwardthinking approach to assisting people out of poverty
  • Computer literacy skills including; the ability to use Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to share knowledge, problem solve with a focus on solutions and contribute towards process improvement
  • A strong understanding of the aims and vision of Big Help Project and its partners
  • Willing to work Weekends on a rota, and some evenings

Experience

  • At least one year of experience in a customerfacing role
  • Experience working with vulnerable clients
  • Experience working with individuals facing poverty and or with dysfunctional and chaotic lifestyles.
