The Police Investigations and Review Commissioner is currently seeking to recruit a part time Finance Officer to join her team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual to work in a fast paced environment within a growing progressive organisation.


The PIRC was established in 2013 and is responsible for carrying out independent investigations into incidents involving the police and independent reviews of the way the police handle complaints from the public.

Our aim is to secure public confidence in policing in Scotland by supporting continuous improvement and promoting positive change.


As a Finance Officer you will provide support to the Finance Manager in delivering the PIRC finance function and PIRC's financial governance, ensuring the propriety and regularity of the public finances under PIRC's control.

They will be responsible for ensuring full compliance with the Scottish Public Finance Manual (SPFM) and Scottish Government pay policy and for demonstrating best value in the use of PIRC's financial resources.


  • Prepare or review all month end reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, and processes in conjunction with the Finance Administrator, ensuring proper investigation is carried out into any differences which may arise prior to passing to the Finance Manager for approval.
  • Review and authorise all payments processed
  • Design and maintain an accurate forecast of spend against budget, highlighting any potential over or under spends projected
