The Opportunity
Are you a hands-on and experienced finance professional seeking a rewarding position as Company Accountant for a professional SME? Do you enjoy variety and autonomy? Are you comfortable in a role which is end-to-end accounting for a modern-thinking but well-establishedSME?

You'll enjoy bringing finance in house - you'll play an integral role in managing all aspects of month end, enhancing controls and providing real time management accounts and financial reporting to support business management and decision making.

It's a reasonably complex SME with 15+ smaller companies within a group structure - you need to be comfortable drilling down into the numbers and managing all aspects of the day to day financial management, accounting and reporting requirements.

You'll be diligent and self-motivated as the 'number 1' in finance - ensuring the finances and financial controls for the business are in the best possible shape.

This is an integral standalone finance role which also requires the successful person to becomfortable rolling up their sleeves.

You need to be comfortable with the hands-on bookkeeping (intercompany, bank and balance sheet reconciliations / VAT and CIS returns / payment authorisations / accruals & prepayments / journals / cashflows etc).

You will drive all required financial, accounting and forecasting activities.

Producing accurate monthly accounts with detailed variance analysis will come naturally to you, which includes both P&L and balance sheet reconciliations with risks and opportunitiesclearly identified.

You will support the wider business by providing financial support to the management team and will work closely with the Managing Director and all functions to drive profitability and efficiencies through continuous improvement and collaboration.

To be successful in this role you will:

Be a confident and hands on Company Accountant who enjoys the variety of a professional group of companies.
Have previous experience of managing the finance function for a diverse SME.
Have relevant accounting qualifications.
Have excellent analytical skills and strong IT competency (the group currently use Xero).
Be capable of managing your own time and deadlines effectively (in a standalone role as number 1 in finance).
Be comfortable presenting financial information to MD / business owner level.
