YMCA Brighton provides supported accommodation to over 300 people across Brighton and Hove, as well as Work and Learning opportunities at specialised centres in Portslade and Brighton.

We are looking for a proven leader and a passionate advocate for individuals with multiple and compound needs.


You will have a track record of providing and growing high-quality services, preferably within a social housing environment and be able to evidence a genuine commitment to inspiring and empowering staff to drive performance.

This position is based in Brighton, East Sussex


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and senior management and oversight of the organisation's operations (supported housing and work and learning projects), ensuring high levels of performance across all aspects of operational delivery and compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead on new business opportunities including the preparation and submission of tenders and grants, maximising opportunities for growth of service provision, reach and impact.
  • To hold the position of Designated Safeguarding Officer for the organisation, providing leadership to and ensuring high quality and consistent safeguarding practice.
  • To ensure an embedded culture of client involvement and influence in service provision.
  • Ensure robust performance management systems are maintained, providing accurate monthly KPIs so that issues are quickly identified and appropriately reported and managed.
  • To ensure the organisation's property assets are maintained to a high standard and comply with all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements ensuring value for money throughout procurement.
  • To be responsible for rent setting and maximising the organisation's income through effective rent collection and void management.
  • Responsible for annual budget setting for operational services, with effective financial management and control throughout the year and contributing to the strategic budgeting for the organisation.
  • To provide strong staff leadership, responsible for the recruitment, management and development of direct line reports and oversight of effective management within the operations teams, maintaining high performing, motivated staff teams.
  • To develop and maintain effective partnership with local partners and stakeholders, representing the organisation at a strategic level both locally and nationally as required.
  • To support effective governance through provision of effective, professional insight and performance to the Board and internal Governance committees and attendance of such meetings.
  • As part of the organisation's Leadership team to provide senior leadership across the organisation, contributing to the leadership and strategic development of YMCA Brighton and support a culture of high performance, in accordance with the organisation's strategy and values.
  • To participate in the organisation's management on-call services where required.
  • To role model professional behaviours, consistent with YMCA Brighton values and work within YMCA Brighton policies and procedures at all times and in accordance with Code of Conduct.
  • In the absence of the Chief Executive working in conjunction with the other senior management staff to ensure the smooth and efficient running of all aspects of YMCA Brighton.
  • To attend mandatory training and appropriate continuing professional development events.
