An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Resuscitation Service for a full time band 6 Paediatric Resuscitation Practitioner based at UHCW NHS Trust.


The post holder will be working as part of the team in the Resuscitation Service, and will support the Lead Resuscitation Practitioners in the organisation and delivery of resuscitation training.

Their role will primarily be the coordination of paediatric resuscitation training to all staffing groups (including nursing, medical staff and allied health care professionals), both internal and external to the organisation.

This may also include supporting some provision of adult resuscitation training.


Applicants should be Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS/EPALS) providers, as the role will involve attending paediatric cardiac arrest and medical emergency calls within the trust when able.


  • Please be advised that provision interview date is 21st December 2023*The role requires the post holder to work autonomously and flexibly to ensure that all resuscitation training is delivered to meet the needs of the service and optimise compliance.


The post holder will be required to participate in undertaking audits such as compliance with daily checking and stocking of cardiac arrest trolleys and will be involved in research where relevant.

The post holder will be responsible for the organisation, set up and maintenance of resuscitation equipment used in the delivery of training.

In addition they will provide and maintain an efficient and effective service which meets departmental, trust and national standards, policies and procedures.

Main Duties/Responsibilities

  • Accountable for own actions in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct. Contribute to corporate objectives, acting within local, Trust and statutory guidelines and policies at all times.
  • Manage and prioritise workload, escalating any issues to the Lead Resuscitation Practitioners when required.
  • Coordinate paediatric resuscitation services within the Trust. This will include the coordination of paediatric resuscitation courses and paediatric mandatory resuscitation training.
  • Teach and assess knowledge and skills in resuscitation to different staff groups for paediatric and adult specialities. Vary content and delivery according to the staff group to ensure training is mapped to the competence required.
  • To be responsible for accurate record keeping and data entry to appropriate databases such as ESR. Ensure all non
- attenders are also recorded including the reason for absence.

  • Be competent and effective in using paediatric and adult resuscitation training equipment such as manikins, defibrillators etc.
  • To monitor and maintain all equipment involved in resuscitation training and have an understanding of the ordering procedures and associated costs.
  • In collaboration with the Lead Resuscitation Practitioners and paediatric services, review the paediatric resuscitation equipment and implement changes as required.
  • Attend paediatric emergencies and cardiac arrests within the Trust when able.
  • Support staff during difficult situations during training and/or the clinical environment. Escalate issues when appropriate and have an understanding of clinical incident reporting.
  • Responsible for the collection of data associated with paediatric emergencies and cardiac arrests for the purposes of the National Cardiac Arrest Audit (NCAA) and Trust audit, including quality assurance reports.
